Ok, now for the disclaimer crap: Before you go any further, I am not responsible if you mess anything up on you PC after doing this(but you really shouldn't mess anything up)
If after reading this you're either not sure about this or just don't know anything about it THEN DONT DO IT
Want your memory configured a little better,especially in the DOS Mode for some games. Since Microsoft did away with Memmaker (their Old DOS memory optimizer, and they shouldnt have) you really can't reconfigure your memory, unless you know what you're doing and most don't. I found out that the old DOS Memmaker program works really well with Win95 and 98, you just need the five Old DOS files CHKSTATE.SYS, HIMEM.SYS, SIZER.EXE, EMM386.EXE, MEMMAKER.EXE. You probably already have some of these either in you c:\, or your windows\command directory, but memmaker needs them all in the same place, and will make a new path for them in your startup files when it runs.Check this by going to the sysedit.exe program, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSEDIT.EXE,<-- you can follow this like a hyperlink if you want, and it will open up your file on your hard drive,if not go to it manually and view the startup files to see what changes were made.
What's that you say you don't have them, well you can get them here.
download them individually here--> CHKSTATE.SYS HIMEM.SYS SIZER.EXE EMM386.EXE AND MEMMAKER.EXE
Just copy these five DOS files to your C:\ directory, or any other directory of your choice, even create a new directory and give it a name of your choice. Just be sure you know where they are located. Then exit or boot to the DOS mode, and navigate to the directory where you have placed the DOS files and type "memmaker" and if you've ever used the old DOS or Win 3.11 then you'll recognize this. And follow the onscreen instructions. !!WARNING !! Its a good Idea to make copies of your config.sys and autoexec.bat files before you modify them in any way,and the memmaker procedure does just that, so you can restore them if necessary. Either on a floppy or somewhere else on your harddrive, and it is also a good idea to make a Windows 95 or 98 startup disk, especially with the Win98's CD ROM support. To do this go to my computer\control panel\add remove programs. see below, The "create disk" will link you right to your control panel, if you choose to.
